I remember when I was a kid and the internet was new technology that you had to wait forever for your computer to load the information you wanted onto the screen. I would see a little progress bar at the bottom of my monitor and it would say processing . But now we are surrounded by a suffocating amount of lightning fast information. Within seconds we can have almost any question answered for us. Hop online, go to wikipedia or google….answering the question is easy. But have you ever wished that you did not know all the answers? I know it seems like an odd thought but think about it for a minute.

How many times have you found yourself chuckling at a Christian catch phrase? Do you ever feel like you can answer the question before the other is finished asking it? Perhaps this is because we have lost the art of asking big questions of a big God. WWJD might be catchy but does it really leave us pondering the heart of God and the mystery of our relationship with Him?

How about this….have you ever gotten angry at a skeptic who asked an “ignorant” question such as “If God exists….why can’t I see Him?” or “If God exists why is there so much evil in the world?”. Why not get excited when someone asks this question instead of angry….is it because in our own hearts we just don’t know the answer?

Our questions should be more important than their answers.

When we ask difficult, deep, heart felt questions of God, Life, and the World we begin a journey that will ultimately lead us to the God of the universe. Christians say that God is all-powerful. If this is true than no question is beyond Him. Yet it may take us weeks, years, or even life times to delve into His power and being. What’s more sometime we may even find a question that cannot be fully answered on this side of eternity. But that is not a failure, it is an opportunity to re-affirm our faith in a God who is ultimately bigger than us…much bigger.

Christians are being asked to answer many questions. Will you support this political candidate or bill? Will you oppose this court decision? Why did that Priest do those things to those children? Where is God in all the trouble we see in the Middle East? Why did my child die in that accident? Does God care? Why do you believe that my religion is wrong and your is right? These questions are important and need to be addressed, but many require immedate action. If Christians are not careful they can spend their entire life answering questions they themselves never asked. Let me challenge you this week to ponder one question that cannot be answered in a sound bite or through an email. What is it that you would know of God, or of this world? Let me start you off…
