Interesting article, I think over the years my view of Samson has shifted. Oh yes, he was a “bit of lad” and I get the impression his parent’s spoilt him, but it’s worth noting that his desire for a Philistine wife came from The Lord. The Spirit also came upon him at sundry times (surely many of NEVER reach that place) we don’t give him room. Having said all that your point is well made, our testimonies should all point away from self (and our chequered past) and up towards Him who has deigned to bless us in the first place.

Our fundamental need in this world is forgiveness of sins. Without that blessing no other blessing of God can be enjoyed. Your body could be healed and you could spend eternity in separation from the love of the living God and under His burning, searching judgment. There’s no need more central than the forgiveness of sins. No other blessing can be enjoyed without it. It comes through loud and clear in this passage.

Nice post. Luke 9:23 is a great verse to remind us we cannot serve two masters. We must choose between ourselves or Jesus.
